Luxury Pasta Moments Photo Contest {Recipe: Baked Ziti}

and the completed caption,

Ever since my son attended cooking school for kids he loves to help me in the kitchen.
He’s a pretty good mini-chef and last week we made Baked Ziti for the first time.

Since he is becoming more selective (that is a nice way of saying PICKY!)  about what he eats,
I have tried including him more in the cooking process
because he’s more open to eating what he cooks!

Here is our recipe for Baked Ziti:

A quick and easy pasta dish that the entire family will enjoy!
Ingredients
  • 4 cups Luxury Penne Rigate Pasta
  • 1 jar (26 ox) Marinara Sauce {I used a chunky vegetable}
  • 1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 6 oz Cream Cheese, cubed
  • 3/4 cup Ricotta Cheese
  • 8 oz Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (or Italian Blend)
  • 1/3 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Cook pasta in a large pot as directed per packaging, omitting salt.
  3. Drain pasta and set aside
  4. Combine marinara sauce, tomatoes and cream cheese to same pot
  5. Cook on medium heat until cream cheese is melted and mixture is well blended, stirring frequently
  6. Mix pasta into sauce
  7. Layer half the pasta mixture in a 13×9 inch baking dish
  8. Cover with spoonfuls of the Ricotta cheese and 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  9. Layer the other half of the pasta mixture on top
  10. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan
  11. Bake 20 minutes, or until heated through
Notes

This pasta dish can be assembled ahead of time. Refrigerate up to 8 hours, When ready to serve, back, uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes, or until heated through.
