Growing Fresh Herbs

Growing Fresh Herbs

I decided that we were going to attempt to grow fresh herbs for the kitchen. I am known for having a black thumb and putting fear into the hearts of helpless plants, but I figured even this was something I could do. ( Quick tidbit: Never clean a large splash fountain with lots of bleach because it might kill all of the plants in a 5 feet radius, but you probably knew that.)   This particular kit included parsley, chives, and sweet basil.  We filled the metal contained with 3-4 inches of soil and sprinkled the three different types of seeds in three sections. Then we covered the seeds with about an inch of soil and watered. I bought a misting spray bottle to water them once and day and we waited. After about 14 days we noticed little sprouts and now  our herbs are growing up to become tomato basil soup, chive infused mashed potatoes, and maybe Tabouli with fresh parsley. Can’t wait to have friends over and say “Yes, I grew my own herbs.” It sounds like something Martha Stewart would say!
